Man City fans and Aguero's

Why Man City fans should be delighted with Aguero's Independiente pledge

The revelation that Sergio Aguero intends to leave Manchester City at the end of his contract in 2019 should only be regarded as good news by Blues fans.

It may be taken negatively by some; that he has ruled out the possibility of signing a new deal, or will walk out on the club for free, but the most important thing is that, if he remains true to his word, Real Madrid, Barcelona and any other top European club can forget about signing Aguero.

It has never been a secret that the Argentine, like many of his countrymen, wants to retire in his homeland. More specifically, he wants to retire with Independiente, his boyhood club and, in many ways, biggest love.

He started out there as a nine-year-old, became the youngest player to make their Argentine league debut there, and has never hid his desire to hang up his boots in the Greater Buenos Aires city of Avellaneda.

The 27-year-old still watches his beloved Rojo, not just whenever possible, but routinely. If their matches are not on the satellite television feed beamed specially into his house, he will stream them on the internet.

In the October international break, fresh from scoring five goals against Newcastle United, he caught an early flight back home to watch his brother play for Independiente's reserve team in the flesh.
